From its mint green exterior to its deluxe kitchen and stylish selections, the Bedford, Drees Homes’ 2025 Showcase of Homes entry, brings the best of modern design and intricate details from the exterior to the interior - front to back.
At 5,700 square feet, the 5 bed 4 bath Bedford features two levels of thoughtfully designed living space. Even the back of the home - which boasts a two-story outdoor living area - is just as intricately designed as the rest of the house.
Its mint green exterior makes this home an absolute standout. The home’s brick is painted in PPG Paint’s Gunmetal Gray, a deep gray, toad green shade with an ivy undertone. The entryway is flanked by rich wood accents, and a dark roof and large, black windows make the exterior selections of the home flow cohesively.
The Bedford was Drees Homes’ entry for the 2025 Showcase of Homes, which ran through Oct. 12. When selecting the exterior colors, Senior Design Consultant Candice Michel said she envisioned a color story that would stand apart in the show – she wanted it to be bold enough to be remembered, yet refined and forward thinking.
“The exterior was a bold choice on my part, but I was sure that more people than not would look at it and say, ‘You know what, I wouldn't have thought of that, but, yes, I'm in,’” Candice said.
Inside, a stylish home office sits immediately off the foyer. This space is defined by textured wallpaper in a wild sage shade; it’s the first of many spaces decorated with wallpaper throughout the home. Wallpaper also adorns two powder rooms, three bedrooms, the family ready room, and notably - the primary suite and wine bar.
The primary suite features wallpaper - Provincial Scenic Wall Mural - that truly looks like a painting. The wallpaper in the wine bar is also a work of art. With all glass doors, the wine bar’s blue and gray hues pop nicely, making the space visible from the family room, kitchen and dining area.
The wallpaper throughout the Bedford is a testament to the application’s comeback. What used to be something homeowners have avoided is now in vogue. Modern-day wallpaper options are more durable, easily removable and more user friendly. And, in Candice’s words, people are tired of blank walls.
“Trending moody botanical scenes and murals are easier to achieve, especially on accent walls, and wallcoverings don’t require the upkeep of paint,” Candice said.
The family room makes a dramatic statement - vaulted ceilings with cedar beams pair perfectly with the fireplace, which is accented by a natural reed application and white subway tile in a vertical application. The hardwood flooring exudes warmth, and a matte black Kichler Livadia Chandelier anchors the space.
A large, sliding glass door walks out onto the covered outdoor living area. The top portion of the patio features a stone fireplace and cozy wood accents. The primary suite and a secondary bedroom also walk out onto the outdoor living area.
In the kitchen you’ll find stunning quartz countertops in a Parisien Bleu shade. The kitchen island is illuminated by two Kichler Etcher pendants in Champagne Bronze. The white farmhouse sink, a Kohler Whitehaven Undermount Single-Bowl, is a standout feature on the island - upstaged only by the quartz countertop with a waterfall edge.
The Moen faucet is brushed gold to compliment the pendant lights (Moen Weymouth Two-Handle High Arch Pulldown Faucet). The cabinetry is a rich wood (Aristokraft Korbett, Arid Stain on Maple), the brushed gold pot filler matches the sink faucet and the professional range is a stunning JennAir RISE. But the star of the show is truly the custom, fluted rangehood. This show piece is a 48’’ Reeded Box Hood by Innerwood.
