It’s our homebuyers’ favorite appointment: Selections day at the Drees Design Center means you get to pick out all of the finishes for your dream home—from flooring to fixtures to lighting—all with the help of our expert Design Consultants. And when it comes to taking an inside look at the process, Lorena Rosales is possibly the best tour guide of our Design Center that you could have. Lorena, a Texas-based mom and YouTuber, is well loved for her home decor videos, especially seasonal decorating and DIY projects. So not only is her video tour comprehensive, her selections for her new Drees home are absolutely stunning.
Lorena and her husband David are building their dream Drees home in the Austin, Texas area. The couple is looking to upgrade their living space as they have a young daughter and a dog. The Rosaleses chose Drees after touring several model homes in the Austin area.
“What really drew us to Drees was their excellent quality and attention to detail,” Lorena said. “Every Drees model home we toured impressed us with its style, layout and overall quality.”
We’re excited to partner with Lorena as she and her family embark on their home building journey and invite you to learn more on her experience by watching the video below.
As with all of our homebuyers, Lorena’s first stop is at our state-of-the-art Design Center. When you build with Drees, you’ll be paired with an expert design consultant, certified by the National Design Studio Institute, who will be your trusted partner to bring your custom home vision to life. You can also choose to have multiple appointments, so there’s no pressure when it comes to making those important decisions.
Lorena came to the Design Center with a clear vision of how she wanted her spaces to look and feel. She even created mood boards to help inspire and drive her appointment.
For the flooring, Lorena and her husband gravitated toward lighter wood tones. Our Design Centers carry a vast variety of samples, so she was able to pull several shades for comparison. The wood tone they selected is similar to the flooring at our Jensen model home at McGirt's Creek in Yulee, Florida.
They wanted warmer tones for the kitchen, specifically two-toned cabinets, featuring a warm wood stain paired with a creamy white.
“I really love that the Drees Design Center has four different kitchens styled, so you can get great examples of all the different finishes and the layouts of the cabinets,” Lorena said.
They are also adding cabinets in the island, and they’re considering running their countertops (Calacatta Gold Quartz) up to the backsplash. They’re adding a large drawer beneath their range for their pots and pans, spice and tray pullouts and glass cabinets next to the range hood.
Their double ovens and microwave will be neatly hidden in the island, and they are customizing their pantry area with an arched walkway and floating shelves.
Lorena's cabinetry will be a softer white than what is pictured below, but the countertop is similar to the Crane II's kitchen.
For the bathroom, they selected a porcelain-finished tile that will go up the wall behind the freestanding tub. The bathroom will also feature a glass shower with floor-to-ceiling subway tile in a vertical stack. They picked warm wood vanities, tall mirrors and gold sconce lighting to finish out the space.
Lorena wanted bright and airy vibes for this space. She selected a white quartz countertop like shown below and added bottom cabinets for extra storage. For the flooring, she picked a hexagon-shaped tile with texture and light, marbled color.
This space will be anchored by a statement chandelier and flanked by a foyer space, complete with extra shelving for storage and a dropzone hidden out of the way like shown in the examples below. They upgraded to double doors for an eye-catching entry and picked black Andersen windows for the entire home.
When designing a home, there are a lot of choices to be made, but Lorena said she felt like the selections process went smoothly thanks to her Design Consultant.
“There were times where we couldn't decide and we would just have to stop, move onto something else and come back to it, but the Drees Design Center is really organized,” Lorena said. “It has everything nicely displayed, so it makes things go really smooth. And we're just even more excited for the building of our house now and really happy with everything that we have picked.”
