Then there’s the elegance that a sophisticated decorating style brings. Whatever style makes your season bright, hosting the holidays in your Drees home is easy - and even fun! After all, our floor plans are created by architects with care, in the hopes that you and your family will soon be there.
Okay, holiday puns aside, we understand it’s essential to have the most optimal space for gathering during this season. Our signature living triangles – an open floor plan concept in which the kitchen, family room and dining area are adjacent – make for functional everyday living and optimal entertaining opportunities. This allows the host to keep a pulse on all three areas of the home while entertaining. Plus, guests can enjoy the open space as they move about the party.
When it comes to the holidays, this space begs to be adorned in all of the greenery, tinsel and trees, and we’re excited to show off some Drees homes that exemplify making the holidays merry and bright!

Defined by traditional colors like red, green and gold, this decorating style pairs perfectly with organic elements like greenery, pinecones and oranges. The Corona at Viridian in Arlington, Texas is decked out with fresh greenery and a citrus-inspired tablescape - a nod at the classic story of receiving an orange in your stocking.
The Corona’s dining area is spacious enough to house your guests and your tree, so you don’t have to choose between festive and functional. The Corona’s dining room features an extensive butler’s pantry across the hall — a perfect spot to pour drinks or serve hors d’oeuvres. For the dining area, consider incorporating place settings with pops of gold and red to complement the warm tone of the organic elements.
The family room and deluxe kitchen all but share the ample kitchen island and fireplace, which makes the spacious area feel warm and cozy. To style this space, carry greenery over onto the mantle, duplicating the organic element concept and keeping the color palette similar. And you better believe there are stockings hung with care!

If your holidays are defined by feelings of magic, a holly jolly approach to decorating might be your vibe. Our Everly floor plan serves as the perfect backdrop for this holiday décor style. The stone fireplace and wood mantle is an ideal canvas for greenery and stockings. Add a JOY banner for a pop of whimsy, and incorporate a blanket ladder and plaid pillows to achieve optimal coziness.

The dining area is located between the two rooms, which makes for great flow during a holiday gathering. In the kitchen, the range hood is a perfect place to hang a wreath, and don’t be afraid to use your backsplash as space to decorate!

Achieve an elegant and sophisticated look this holiday season by sticking to a simple but striking color palette. To deck the halls in our Elmsdale floor plan, we selected gorgeous shades of greens, golds and ambers. These colors stand out on the front porch, where garland is wrapped around the railing. Add layers to your greenery by incorporating eucalyptus, dried florals and bows. For our porch bows, we chose three different kinds of ribbon - each with its own color and texture - to complement the variety of color in the garland.

The Elmsdale’s glass French doors each have a eucalyptus wreath for a neat, symmetrical look. We used the same bow on the wreaths to tie all of the decor together. Step inside, and you’ll notice the same color scheme on the garland and tree in the foyer. Look closely, and you’ll notice the tree has dried florals similar to the ones outside. The bows on the garland use colors that mirror the ornaments. Although many homeowners choose to put their tree in the family room, the foyer can be an excellent space to decorate, as it’s often the first place guests see upon entering.

The kitchen features subtle touches - including modern, geometrical trees on the island and mistletoe on either side of the range hood. Strategically place ornaments in pops of greenery to carry a festive feel throughout the home.
