Homeowner Spotlight: Meet Will & Hannah

Newlyweds Will and Hannah recently kicked off their marriage with a move into a brand new home. They're no strangers to the home design process though. As a couple, they've flipped and renovated past homes and managed design projects for a variety of clients. Hannah even grew up surrounded by design with a father who built custom homes and a mother who had a knack for decorating.
Today, Hannah runs her own interior design firm, The Highpoint House. Through her website and social media (@thehighpointhouse on Instagram), she shares snapshots of her own Drees home, recaps of client projects and her most beloved home décor products.
The couple sat down to share their top takeaways for building.
The floor plan we selected was the Hadley. What originally attracted us to this floor plan from the second we stepped in the front door was the open and inviting entryway and the fact that this house checked all the hidden boxes on our list that we didn't even know we had! The first floor has an office space, an extra living space just off the kitchen that we can use as a playroom down the line, and multiple outdoor living spaces. We also loved the open floor plan, add-on bonus room, add-on fourth bedroom plus bathroom, and private owner's suite wing. It was a must for us to have our owner's suite on the second floor, so we could be close to kids in the future.
The kitchen is one of our favorite spaces in the house. It has massive bright windows that look at the woods in our backyard and offers an open floor plan for entertaining family. We both enjoy cooking, so we opted to upgrade appliances and add features like a farm sink and pot filler. Another favorite place is our owner's suite bathroom where we have large windows, a free standing tub and body sprayers in the shower.
What we enjoyed most about the building process was that we didn't have to do it (haha). Both of us are used to flipping, renovating and designing our previous homes ourselves, so having someone else do the work was nice. We really enjoyed the design process as well. Picking our own finishes and seeing our design plans come to life in the house, week by week during the home build, was really exciting!
Stay involved in the construction process. Lucky for us, we became fast friends with our builder and stayed in touch with each other throughout the process.
