There’s no doubt about it – being home for the holidays is the very best place to be. Whether you’re hosting a crowd or having a more intimate gathering, decking the halls in your Drees home is not only a simple task, but a fun one too!
To kick off the start of the most wonderful time of the year, we partnered with Lee Cordon of DoSayGive – a lifestyle site focused on classic style and thoughtful etiquette – to style the Corona, a floor plan availble in our Texas region.
A Drees dining room is the perfect spot to serve up your holiday meal. The dining area is spacious enough to house your guests AND your tree, so you don’t have to choose between festive and functional. The Corona’s dining room features an extensive butler’s pantry across the hall — a perfect spot to pour drinks or serve hors d’oeuvres.
Lee’s styling in the dining area showcases a classic holiday color scheme and organic elements like fresh greenery, pine cones and oranges. The place settings have pops of gold and red that compliment the warm tone of the organic elements. Lee landed on a traditional, citrus-inspired tablescape because it’s an inexpensive way to add interest and elements of nature to your design.
There are many stories about receiving oranges as a holiday gift, Lee wrote on her blog DoSayGive. One story originated around the time of the Great Depression, when the fruits were hard to come by and getting an orange in your stocking was a real treat.
“Oranges are also said to represent the gift of gold, or generosity … no matter which story you prefer, they both stem from a place of gratitude for the simple things in life,” Lee shared.
The Drees living triangle – an open floor plan concept in which the kitchen, family room and dining area are adjacent – makes for functional everyday living and optimal entertaining opportunities. This allows the host to keep a pulse on all three areas of the home while entertaining. Plus, guests can enjoy the open space as they move about the party. The Corona’s family room and deluxe kitchen all but share the ample kitchen island and fireplace, which makes the spacious area feel warm and cozy.
