Here’s the game plan - we’re going to have snacks on the coffee table, drinks at the wet bar and plenty of space for guests to watch the biggest football game of the year. Ready? BREAK!
Hosting the big game in your Drees home means there’s no shortage of spaces to entertain. Watch the game in your family room, or host the event in your finished lower level to achieve that quintessential game day feel.
We partnered with Drees homeowner Tara Berger from One Stylish Party to illustrate how you can win at hosting the big game this year. With the help of food stylist Casey Nickels, Tara beautifully styled the finished lower level of our Finley model home at Crocker Woods in Westlake, Ohio.

The Finley features an expansive lower level - not only does the space have plenty of room for people to gather around the TV, it also includes a wet bar, dining area and wine room.
The bar will have you serving up drinks in style! The space features a trendy two-tone look, with black on the bar and slate gray on the cabinetry. White quartz surrounds the sink, and matte black fixtures tie the look together. Regardless of your bartending skills, the space itself sets you up for success!

Decorating this space for the big game will help your guests get into the spirit. Tara suggests using themed banners and printable signs as an inexpensive and fun way to add some flair to your party.
“Some of the items I included in my party decor included a drink local sign, burlap game day banner and some DIY printable pennants I found on Etsy. It’s simple, easy and a cute way to incorporate the football theme,” Tara shared.
We all know ‘em - the folks at the watch party who care more about the apps and socializing than the actual game.
The Finley’s lower level is perfect for both types - the people who actually want to watch the game *and* for those who would rather have a conversation over a cold one. Guests who would prefer to socialize can gather in the wine room or at the dining area.

And then comes the biggest component of hosting the perfect game day party: The snacks.

When it comes to game-day grub, presentation is key. Tara recommends taking a few extra minutes to plate wings on a tray with a variety of veggies and dipping sauces, which instantly elevates the feel of the dish.
There’s also no need to stress over an elaborate menu. Tara suggests sticking to classic game day favorites.
“There’s no need to reinvent the wheel for your party menu when game day finger foods and appetizers are beloved by pretty much everyone! Store bought sandwiches, wings and pizza are great staples to pair with homemade dips, accompanied by chips and other healthy dipping options,” Tara shared.
