Celebrating unconventionality was at the heart of selecting the Pantone® 2023 Color of the Year. Viva Magenta - an animated, crimson red tone - is reflective of the unique cultural moment we’re living in. 

Pantone’s Color of the Year represents a balance between warm and cool. It’s a nuanced red that encourages self expression without restraint. 

“In this age of technology, we look to draw inspiration from nature and what is real. PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta descends from the red family, and is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes belonging to the natural dye family as well as one of the strongest and brightest the world has known,” Pantone Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman shared.

Incorporating Viva Magenta into your home

A bold shade, no doubt, use Viva Magenta in spaces where you want to evoke a sense of drama. Its punchy color serves spaces like the dining room quite well; the shade compliments warm, earthy colors that you'd often see in flooring, tables and chairs.
