What floor plan did you choose?

We chose the Burkhart floor plan, and it’s been a great fit for our family. We really liked the layout, especially having the primary bedroom and main living areas on the first floor, with the kids’ rooms upstairs. It gives us a great balance of togetherness and separation, which works really well for our day-to-day life.

As you watched your home come to life, what have been your favorite features? 

It’s been exciting to see everything come together, but we especially love the main living spaces—the kitchen and family room—since that’s where we spend most of our time as a family. We also love how much natural light the home gets and how open and comfortable the layout feels.

What did you enjoy most about the building process?

The efficiency and organization of the process really stood out to us. Given what we had gone through, it was important that the experience felt structured and predictable. One of the reasons we chose Drees was their timeline, and they delivered on that.

We also really enjoyed the design process and appreciated how flexible and solution‑oriented the entire team was. It felt like we were able to customize what mattered most to us without overcomplicating things. We had a great experience working with Daniela (Market Manager), Julie (Designer), and Brian (Builder)—they made the process feel personal and guided us every step of the way.

What advice would you give others who are interested in building a home?

Have a clear idea of your priorities going into the process and try not to overcomplicate decisions along the way. It’s easy to get caught up in every small detail, but focusing on what matters most helped us stay on track and actually enjoy the experience.

Why did you choose to build with Drees?

We chose Drees because of their strong reputation, their floor plan options, and their ability to execute on a defined timeline. Given our situation, timing and certainty were incredibly important to us, and Drees provided that. The overall experience helped us get back into a home that feels right for our family.
